Abby's baby shower

Today was Abby Olsen's (CJ's wife) baby shower, for her little baby boy Alexander Robert Olsen. He was born 7 weeks early, but it was more like he was 10 weeks early, because her body stopped providing him with much nutrition three weeks earlier. He is four pounds now, still in the hospital, but breathing on his own, and gaining weight. They are hopeful he'll be able to come home around his due date--mid-June.

Abby is doing okay. She got a bad infection (taken care of now), and has a large hematoma that needs to break open (don't ask me, I'm just repeating what Aunt Wendy told me), but every day she gets a little better. She only gets to go to the hospital once a day, which has been really really hard for her, but hopefully once she gets to bring that baby home everything will be great.

The shower was fun--it was good to see Aunt Wendy, Kimberly, and Gabrielle. Gabrielle is having a boy in about 9 weeks; she looks great. An amusing tidbit about the shower--three games were played: Memory (when you match a candy bar with a word, and then you get that candy--smarties with doctors, milky way with nursing, lifesavers with epidural, etc.), a memory game where they uncover a table with 20 baby items, you look for 20 seconds, and then you have two minutes to write them all down, and a jar-full-of-candy guessing game. I won two candy bars (smarties and rocky road (labor and delivery)), and then I won the memory game. So then when they were deciding who won the candy guessing game, Gabrielle leaned over to me and said, "Do you think you'll win this one, too?"

Which I did.

(Don't worry, I asked them to give it to the next closest. It was Gabrielle, but we didn't know that at the time.)

So, yes, I apparently am a baby shower game expert. It's very important, don't you know?

(Over to you, Jen!)
