So, Keryn already knows this, but I don't know who she's told so far. I thought I would just post it here and see what kind of reactions I get. I have recently decided to become a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant. For someone who never wears make-up (and only a very little even on her wedding day), this came as quite a shock to...well, me. Last Thursday, Keryn had a Mary Kay party for a girl in her ward, Amber. It was fun, but I've been to them before and I didn't really think too much about it. Afterwards, a friend of hers who is trying to become a Sales Director in the area came to talk to all of us about Mary Kay. She called it a 'practice interview'. Basically, she told us all about what it takes to become a Consultant (like Amber) and the benefits and all that of working for Mary Kay. When she left, I was thinking, "No, I couldn't do that. I don't even know how to put make-up on." But I went home and talked to Tyler about it and we decided maybe it was something I should do. It just felt right. So, here we are, four days later, and I've signed up to be a Consultant. If it works the way it's supposed to, I should be able to pay for rent and groceries by myself, leaving the money that Tyler makes for saving. We're pretty excited about this, and I'm a little scared, but the people that I'll be working with, who will be training me and so forth, are wonderful. They're very supportive and encouraging and Keryn seems reallly excited about it too. The next time I'm in whatever city you're in, I'll probably ask you to put together a group of friends for free facials. =) My goal is to have one party a week, at least right now. That's about 5 hours a week that I'll be working and I can do them whenever I feel like it, so I won't be under the pressure of a regular job. We don't know yet if I'll continue with this after the baby is born, but of any job that I could have gotten, this one will be the easiest to keep with the baby. So, we'll see. Anyway, just thought I'd let you guys know! I'm selling lipstick! =)
