Eight is great!

We had our eight is great fireside today with all of Jacob's class. There are 22 children who will turn eight this year in our ward and 13 of them showed up tonight. All of us adults frequently laughed all but hysterically at some of what they were doing and saying. Eight year olds have a great sense of humor, usually unintentional.

When the primary presidency called on Bro. St Gellis, he turned around to stare at his father, despite the fact that they had been marching their way down the seated seven year olds on the front row. Then, when one question asked by the bishop had one of the other seven year olds stumped, the bishop offered to give the answer, only to be startled by the resounding "NO!" He wanted to figure it out on his own.

My own son was his normal bubby charming self. One member of the primary presidency wondered out loud at the beginning of the meeting whether or not Jacob had been given an invitation by accident as he was surely to young to be in the group of almost eight year olds.

It was fun and Jacob was thrilled to be able to go out for an evening with just him and Mom and Dad, although he was disappointed that we couldn't take Jeff's car. He thinks Jeff's car is 'cool'.
